Put a WD 3TB disk in my NAS last night. This morning I was surprised to see the resync still crawling at 1 MB/s. I turned off a service that was hogging the CPU and that fixed the problem. This kind of issue should proactively be addressed not by switching off services but rather by changing their priority using tools like renice and ionice
