Backup all data from a ReadyNAS 314

Hello everyone.

I am trying to do something that should be simple.

I want to backup my entire NAS (shares, homes, to a Windows Share.

I'm on the latest FW: 6.10.5

When setting up the backup, here are my parameters:

Source:    Click browse, click on the root of my nas, click select.

on the next page it shows the source as:    /

Destination:  Remote Windows/NAS timestamp

Server details entered including username, password, ip, share name.

Windows server share named $backup

Test connection is successful.

I disable scheduling and click finish.

I then get an error:

"Source and destination cannot be the same"

Code: 7003020008

If I choose something on the nas like "share: mydata" with the same destination settings, it works fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

I don't want to be required to make a backup job for each individual share I have on my nas!

Thanks!

Clearly my source and destination are not the same - the source is the NAS and the destination is a windows server.

  • My recollection is that the $ is how Windows denotes an administrative share.  Try creating the destination share to avoid the $.
