eSata expansion as iSCSI target or NFSv3
I have a ReadyNAS 316 running the 6.1.1 firmware. The 6 internal drives drives (4 x 1 TB in RAID 10 and 2 x 256 GB SSDs in RAID 0) are working as expected via iSCSI.
It also has a hardware mirrored eSata enclosure plugged into the eSata 1 port on the back of the ReadyNAS. It is accessible using a NFSv4 client from a windows OS.
I intend on using the NAS as the shared storage for an ESXi test environment.
Is there any way to make the external enclosure available via iSCSI or as a NFSv3 share? ESX does not currently support NFSv4
Any suggestions are welcome and I am not afraid of the SSH command line...
