Help, readynas won`t startup anymore, Led 1 and 3 are on, power led is off
Hello all, A scream for help from the Netherlands. This afternoon I heard in my basement another sound then the sound I usually hear. It was the fan of my nas which was at full speed. Only ...

Problem solved !
A friend of mine knew somebody who has exactly the same nas and firmware as my faulty nas has.
His nas has also 4 disks in X-RAID mode.
He made a backup of all his data and then we exchanged his disks for my disk. The nas did a normal boot and I could see my data (YES!)
I made a backup of my data and installed my disks in the nas I bought on e-bay.
Of course this will not happen me again so I bought directly some cloud storage.
Thanks for supporting me.
Regards, Maarten

Hello MaartenPrins,
Please use RAIDar and post a screenshot of what it sees about your NAS.
In case the chassis is faulty, to answer your question, you need to make sure the replacement chassis has the same FW version as the old one. Using a scratch disk and install it on the replacement chassis to be able to access the admin page and upgrade the FW version (if it's older than the old one) is the way to get it updated, so make sure you also know the current FW version of your NAS chassis.
Also, storing important data to just one device is not a good idea, as always, we strongly recommend to always have full backup of the data.

Hi JennC,
Thanx for you quick response!
RAIDar doen`t find my nas anymore.
The lan connection of the nas is alive but i can`t find it in my network.
I already removed my disks (because of course i tried several times to start the nas which is not to good for my disks)
Also the lcd display at the frond doesn`t show anything at all.
What can i try to recover my nas?
Or is my only option find another one with the same firmware?
Regards,
Maarten

It could be that you need to try more USB keys or perhaps some hardware in the NAS has failed.
There is a procedure for support to attempt to recover your data using a new ReadyNAS e.g. RN214/RN314. See http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29875/~/readynas%3A-migrating-disks-from-raidiator-to-os-6

Hello mdgm,
a few days passed by and I thought I found a readynas exactly the same on Ebay (RND 4xxx V2)
Well it is on the sticker but today the mailman brought me the package and first thing I noticed that this nas had a almost black housing (my faultly one is light gray)
I installed a small disk in the readynas and unfortunately after the reboot I had to descover it has raidiator 5.3.11 installed on it.
My faultly readynas had raidiator 4.1.xx installedSo maybe a new problem?
Of course I tried to startup with my 4 disks in the "new" nas, but that`s not working (as I was expecting)
Is there a possibility to migrate the X-RAID 2 disks from raidiator 4.1.xx to raidiator 5.3.11 ? Or is it only possible to migrate ro os6?
Regards, Maarten

Your old NAS was a v1 perhaps v1 hardware rev 2.
No you can't migrate from the NV+ v1 to NV+ v2.
The procedure for migrating to an OS6 NAS does require remote assistance from support. You will need somewhere to backup your data to.
