Netgear Ready Nas Duo Model RND2150-100NAS
I have lost the original set password i put on this thing a few years ago just booted it back up yesterday and wanted to see about logging into it so i've gone through the steps where you power it off, hold down the reset buttons and wait for 2 flashes of the Disk LEDS before letting go. I've performed this action about 3 times and each time the username Password section has not reset and they are not back to default yet

The username is always admin. Your NAS default password is netgear1.

Unfortunately that procedure does a factory reset, which destroys your data. Hopefully you didn't have anything on the NAS that you needed.

Unless you did it without the drives installed, in which case it does nothing. You didn't say whether you had the drives installed or not. But if they are not, or if they are bad, then you will not be able to log into the NAS. There is also a waiting time for you to use RAIDar to select the RAID type to be created if the drives are installed and good. The OS from which the NAS boots is on the drives. The Factory Default process simply puts a fresh one on the drives then, after the waiting time or a selection is made via RAIDar, creates a new data volume. Until those happen, you cannot log into the NAS.
Have you looked at the NAS status via RAIDar? You have to use the older RAIDar 4.3.8 to make a volume type selection, or you can wait for the time-out (10 minutes, I believe), after which it will create a RAID1 from two drives or a JBOD from just one.
