OT: MIght see reduced forum participation after unannounced password rule changes

I just had another run-in with this but now I see a pattern. It's "Community" that has this problem. I tracked down and reset a couple of old "MyNetgear" accounts, and used fairly long passwords with them, including a variety of symbols and whatnot. MyNetgear had zero problem with this and worked well.
The /problem/ came when I tried to reply to a thread in Community, which complained (as before) that I hadn't provided it a password. It seems that Community isn't able to support either the same /length/ of passwords as MyNetgear nor passwords with more complexity. So we have to dumb down our MyNetgear (and cloud, and and) passwords so that Community isn't bothered.
Is this something that could be addressed, so that there is parity in the support of password complexity across the web applictations Netgear makes available, especially considering that they share login information?
