RAID 6 array not accessible
Hello, I'm returning to a problem that I couldn't solve 2 years ago and unfortunately because of other personal problems couldn't look into it until now. I cannot access my files in my RN104 after I ...

When you booted up with all drives on all position did it boot normally without any volume? or got stuck in booting? I think it would be best if you can provide the latest logs.
The parameters you provided might be helpful with other utilities.

Hi Marc_V , thanks for responding :)
I haven't booted it up again yet, as I'm afraid of losing data by doing it. The last logs I have are here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1K1qSUkNC8BT9anBvUJ4PU4hT-9xET9zj
These had overheating problems because the fan stopped working (I did put some WD on it and it seems better, I want to boot up the NAS to check it out but I'm not sure if I should boot it up with or without the hdds) and the array problem. I thought that the array was lost because of the last rebuild or the emergency shutdown from heat but the ReclaiMe software showed me it isn't.
I'm guessing the emergency shutdown made the NAS software lose some information about the array parameters. Would it be possible for it to recover these automatically as ReclaiMe software did? Or maybe could I use the information I got from ReclaiMe to help it recover?
Thanks again!

Hello sectoid
Checking on the old logs you lost 1 drive (drive 4) and had some temp issues due to the fan problem you mentioned. I don't think your data is lost but since you are having issues with your RN104 it might be hard to rebuild it using that unit.
If you are saying that it booted fine with the fans running and you still have all drives, checking it for errors might be best before trying to rebuild it. I would still suggest going with Support for assistance on this one. Have you tried checking the drives if they overheat when connected to a PC? you tried them connecting with ReCLAIMe right? have you noticed any issues with the drives?
This has 3 years warranty but I think you already mentioned its past it's warranty limit right? It's very unfortunate but I do think your data can still be recovered.

WD40 is one of the worst things you could have used in the fan. It attracts duct like crazy and is not rated for use in electronics or on plastic. It can break down both insulation and plastic. A dry lube could have helped for a short time, but fan replacement is what you really need.

Thank you for the explanation. I did not know that but it was a first test, I may replace it if needed.

Hi Marc_V , no, I've not booted it and last time I did (2 years ago) the fan was failing and all drives were red. I didn't boot yet because I'm afraid that doing so may lead to some rebuilding or unexpected shutdown that may worsen things. That's why I thought of turning it on without drives to check about the fan, but I also didn't do this yet. Do you know if my array will be kept on the NAS as it is if I do that?
Also, how do I check for errors? Last time if I remember correctly, it started rebuilding on its own.
The drives are utterly fine when connected to the PC, no errors, strange noises, or corrupted files. ReclaiMe allows me to preview images and text, I've checked a lot of them. The drives went through a 100% reading process with ReclaiMe that took 31 hours with no problems. I did it through an USB 3.0 4-bay dock even.
Thanks again.
