FWIW, I wouldn't use the ReadyCloud app for this. One reason is that it won't sync all your folders, another is that sync isn't quite the same as backup.
Personally I use Acronis TrueImage on my PCs, with the backup destination set to a share on the NAS. I do image backups, and Acronis lets me control the versioning.
Acronis isn't free, but there is a free tool that you could try called FreeFileSync. That can be scheduled, and I believe it can be set up to mirror the PC folders. You can then use custom snapshots to give you the ability to roll back to older versions if you like.

Thanks for the fast response. Appreciate what you are saying, I'll look at Acronis. I take it from your response that Readycloud backup cannot (easily) do what I am wanting. I guess being software from a hardware manufacturer it is not as feature rich as a dedicated package!

My recollection is that it doesn't give you much flexibility in the folders it will back up, and also there isn't much in the way of options.
I'm sure there are folks who do use it, hopefully some of them will chime in.
