    You can't connect the NAS to your computer that way.  You need to connect the NAS via ethernet (generally to your router or switch).

    NAS -> "Network Attached Storage"

  • Thanks for getting back to me.

    So what is the purpose of the esata ports being there ?

      -To connect an eSata disk drive (for example for backup).

      -Or to connect the EDA500 expansion chassis

  • Thank you for the information. This has been bugging me for weeks on end

      Try connecting it to your router, and you should be able to access the web ui using https://nasipaddress/admin (using the real NAS ip address).  The default admin password is "password".

      You can access files by entering \\nasipaddress in windows file explorer (or with smb://nasipaddress on an OSX in finder).

      The NAS name should work too, but start with the IP address.

  • Is this the fastest way to transfer data ? I have Tbs of data to move

      Yes if you have a wired gigabit ethernet connection for both the NAS and the PC.
