ReadyDATA 516- what are the options

A ReadyNAS 516 is an OS 6 unit as shipped. Do you have the model number wrong?
- The model number is correct. It is ReadyDATA 516. I bought it very cheap and it is still on its way. I am just trying to prepare ahead.
Is the ReadyDATAOS still usable in any way? I know the core function of replicate was discontinued.
Is it easy to install readynasos? The ReadyCLOUD will be dead in a couple of months, so not being able to use it is not a big deal at all.
I was hoping I can still use it with its native os as a backup of my other servers.
I see you posted a lot there with the rackmount version. You might know how to convertSorry, I saw mentions of RAIDiator 4.2.x and didn't really pay attention that you are talking about a ReadyDATA unit. Neither a ReadyNAS nor ReadyDATA will work with OS4.x or it's recovery tool. So whoever told you that simply has no clue. The latest USB recovery tool for OS6 also works with ReadyDATA.
It is possible to convert a ReadyDATA to a ReadyNAS OS6 unit, but not from instructions readily posted here. I have converted both an RD516 and an RD5200. I have sent you a PM.
While OS6 is getting minimal attention from Netgear, ReadyDATA OS was abandoned even longer ago, so ReadyNAS OS6 is, IMHO, the better way to go. And OS6 now has modt of the things that made ReadyDATA unique (like ReadyDR).
- The only feature That is unique and missing is the dedupe based on my reading so far.
