erf, I reflected a bit over what you said about the disk not getting enough power and I found the cause : I couldn't find the right alim for the nas so I picked something that was matching the connector => a block with 12V - 1A. I tried with another one, this time 12v - 3A and now the NAS can detect the disk (disk led is alight, disk is detected on the web UI).
I feel so dumb --'
