ReadyNAS 524X OS 6 Download Corrupt

I am trying to reset the admin password for my RN524X. Per the password reset instructions I downloaded the OS (version 6.10.5) from the download site only to find the image file is corrupt and will not mount. Does anyone had a good image zip file?

Not sure what instructions are you looking at ,but you do not need to download the OS image to reset the password.  Also, it is not something you can mount on a PC.

One way to reset the password is to use the OS-reinstall option in the boot menu of the NAS. Instructions are on pages 128-129 of the NAS hardware manual here:

Be careful to do the OS-reinstall procedure - and not the factory default. The factory default will destroy your data.

    The OS-reinstall will

    • reset the admin password back to password
    • reset the network configuration to DHCP with no bonding (the default)
    • disable volume quota - which can be re-enabled on the volume settings wheel.

FWIW, since anyone with physical access to your NAS can reset the password this way, there is little security risk in putting the admin password inside the door of the NAS.
