ReadyNAS Ultra 2 shared resources and permissions.
Hi all. Just reading this document from the link below about shared resources and permissions from Active Directory, I'm not quite sure the way to do the same from Server 2019. Setting up Active...

The current binaries would install 6.9.5. If you want to convert to OS-6, you should upgrade the RAM from the stock 1 GB to 2 GB. Some folks have run into out-of-memory issues with the stock memory.
The instructions I generally give are
- BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP
- Upload PREPR4TOR6_0.1-x86.bin as an add-on using the ReadyNAS web gui, but do not reboot afterwards (avoids the need to do manual factory resets)
- Upload R4toR6_6.9.5.bin using the ReadyNAS web gui firmware update
- After you upload the addon+firmware and reboot, it will update the firmware and start a factory default.
- Go through the setup process on the converted NAS
- Update the NAS to the current OS 6 if you like(check for updates will work).
- Restore files from the backup.
Note that 6.10.5 has some issues (which need a hotfix to resolve). If you upgrade to it, then I suggest is to leavomg the admin password set to password until you get the hotfix. Otherwise you might get a nasty login loop that can be hard to resolve.

What you missed (because the link is broken) is the part of the article that says "Windows ADS (Active Directory Service) is a supported security mode on all business-class ReadyNAS products." The Ultra2 is not a "Business Class" unit and does not support AD.

RAIDiator 4.2.31 (I'm afraid there is not upgrading file for this NAS)
That is the last official OS for the Ultra series. Assuming the NAS is an Ultra 2 (you selected Duo for display in your signature), then your unit can be updated to OS6. That configuration is not officially supported by Netgear (you lose access to Netgear support), which is not an acceptable situation for many businesses, and you have to offload the data and restore it after the conversion. But you do gain everything that a native OS6 NAS has over an old 4.2.x one, SMB3 being an important one for many businesses. And more important to you, no differentiation fo "business class" units -- you will have AD support. You also gain easy replacement by a native OS6 unit if the Ultra fails or you just want a more powerful NAS.

Sandshark: Thanks a lot for your responses.
At what os6 version can be updated the RND2000? I saw from 6.0 to 6.10 but I'm not pretty sure what release must be selected.
As I suppose, upgrading must me done localy from the web admin interface (Checking from internet on the web interface doesn't detect more than 4.2 as expected) by selecting the img file from web admin interface...
Regards !!

Thanks for all your comments.
Now I have an issue with memory upgrade.
I upgraded memory from 1 Gb to 2 Gb, but once done, NAS fan is spinning out continously at maximun speed. No lights and / or disk activity detected :(
Attaching again old 1 Gb dimm of ram it works fine.
Attaching a new 2 Gb dimm it doesn´t work.
Original 1 Gb. DIMM: ASint DDRIII 1Gb-1066 (SSY3128M8-EAED 1D 1145)
New 2 Gb. DIMM: ASint DDRIII 2Gb-1066 (SSZ3128M8-EAEEF)
I checked with 2 different DIMM pieces, but I´ve got the same result.
What other actions can I done for solving it?
Thanks a lot.
