ReadyNAS Ultra 2 shared resources and permissions.
Hi all. Just reading this document from the link below about shared resources and permissions from Active Directory, I'm not quite sure the way to do the same from Server 2019. Setting up Active...

The current binaries would install 6.9.5. If you want to convert to OS-6, you should upgrade the RAM from the stock 1 GB to 2 GB. Some folks have run into out-of-memory issues with the stock memory.
The instructions I generally give are
- BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP
- Upload PREPR4TOR6_0.1-x86.bin as an add-on using the ReadyNAS web gui, but do not reboot afterwards (avoids the need to do manual factory resets)
- Upload R4toR6_6.9.5.bin using the ReadyNAS web gui firmware update
- After you upload the addon+firmware and reboot, it will update the firmware and start a factory default.
- Go through the setup process on the converted NAS
- Update the NAS to the current OS 6 if you like(check for updates will work).
- Restore files from the backup.
Note that 6.10.5 has some issues (which need a hotfix to resolve). If you upgrade to it, then I suggest is to leavomg the admin password set to password until you get the hotfix. Otherwise you might get a nasty login loop that can be hard to resolve.

As I suppose, upgrading must me done localy from the web admin interface (Checking from internet on the web interface doesn't detect more than 4.2 as expected) by selecting the img file from web admin interface...

Thanks for all your comments.
Now I have an issue with memory upgrade.
I upgraded memory from 1 Gb to 2 Gb, but once done, NAS fan is spinning out continously at maximun speed. No lights and / or disk activity detected :(
Attaching again old 1 Gb dimm of ram it works fine.
Attaching a new 2 Gb dimm it doesn´t work.
Original 1 Gb. DIMM: ASint DDRIII 1Gb-1066 (SSY3128M8-EAED 1D 1145)
New 2 Gb. DIMM: ASint DDRIII 2Gb-1066 (SSZ3128M8-EAEEF)
I checked with 2 different DIMM pieces, but I´ve got the same result.
What other actions can I done for solving it?
Thanks a lot.

While I've not used that specific model in a ReadyNAS, the specs for it are right. Since you can put the original back in and it works, not properly seating the RAM seems unlikely, though that's the usual cause when the memory is correct.
I suppose there could be somehting wrong with your NAS that causes it to not accept 2GB, but that seems unlikely. The only conclusion would be that you bought product that's damaged or counterfit, though counterfitting something like that seems not worth the effort.
