Raidar states I am using 6.5.0. I would have thought that I should have been told that I had to upgrade. If I upgrade, how is it done and will it affect my stored data?
As for your other question, I would not know. I have the device plugged in to my router and both the device and router are on 24/7.

There is a check-for-updates link next to the NAS firmware on https://192.168.1.191/admin Try clicking on that. The upgrade prompt appears as a popup, so if you have a popup blocker enabled in the browser, you should disable that for the NAS admin site,

I cannot connect to https://192.168.1.191/admin even after re-starting my PC. I can still see my files through Windows.
What about my data? If I update firmware will/could I lose it. I am using a raid setup so one drive is the backup to the other.

Back it up. RAID is not enough to keep your data safe. Likely support could sort out your problem with the web admin interface without data loss, but that is not guaranteed.
