want to get all data off rn102 externally and either restart or get out

You will get a security warning, but you should be able to click through it (With Chrome, you click on the advanced button and proceed to the site).
Note you can't directly update to 6.10.3 - you'd need to update first to 6.2.5, then 6.5.2, and then to 6.10.3.
Thanks that helped i was up to ver 6.7 then it changed my password as per the new combined netgear account . I tried to upgrade to ver 6.10 but failed and now cant download ready cloud or get back to nas at all. interestinly as it was trying to update firmware it kept dropping login window but i could never enter any login info it just kept dropping down the dissappearing.. Any other thoughts

You aren't getting the admin ui login prompt???
