downloading torrent to nas at work. controll it at home?

That's expected behaviour. If you try to access the NAS over http (port 80) or https (port 443) you will get the "Shares" window.
As noted above, in order to access Transmission, you need to specify the port:
http://ip.address:8181/ - Transmission Interface - requires add-on to be installed and appropriate ports forwarded on your router
If you want access to Frontview:
https://ip.address/admin - Frontview Admin Interface
If you want access to your shares over HTTP
http://ip.address/ - Shares
