Maybe - but that would still be incorrect. To be clear - any file in Dropbox can be shared via a HTML link. There is no requirement for special folders, public or otherwise, and so contradicts the key advantage being claimed for Egnyte

In this thread, Johnny has positioned Egnyte directly against Dropbox. Consider:

This thread is about people wanting to install Dropbox on their NAS - possible to do but there is no addon due to significant difficulties involved in creating one.

The suggestion by Johnny to use Egnyte is a good one as they have the local cloud feature which could satisfy the NAS installation requirement, and from a real cloud sharing perspective there are a lot of similarities between Dropbox & Egnyte (I would also agree they do differ also - but not as much as suggested as Johnny's info is out of date)

But - Egnyte charges a significant premium for the local cloud feature making it far too expensive for home users

The suggestion is then to use Egnyte without the local cloud feature ie without NAS support, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of this thread while at the same time positioning Egnyte squarely against Dropbox as it is not offering any thing very different than what commenters on this thread, requesting Dropbox support, already have
