How can I see if the NIC connection has been disturbed?
The simplest thing is to just remove the ethernet connector and reinsert it.
Or if it is convenient, run another (known good) cable from the NV+ to the upstream switch.
Gigabit requires all 8 contacts to be functioning - if some are open, you can end up negotiating a slower speed. Though usually you'd end up with 100 mbit, not 10.

I'd wait for the resync to finish, then then power down/restart the NAS.
Maybe also check the NIC connection on the NV+, as it might have been disturbed when you upgraded the disks.
Just in case - you are aware that the NV+ v1 doesn't support drives > 2 TB?
