The ARM version of course doesn't support transcoding but the CPU couldn't handle it anyway.
What does this mean i practise? Does it mean that the ARM processor in ReadyNAS duo v2 cannot play for example mkv and mp4/x264 encoded videos on a plex client like ATV2/iPad? If that's the case, which kind of formats can it play?
If you are using the Plex client, then it will play the formats that plex supports (they support many formats). Transcoding basically means a reduction in size, i.e. say from 20 mbps to 4 mbps. This is usefull for streaming HD source material over mobile connections or remote WiFi. As I understand it, the ARM version can only do direct streaming (1:1). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong as I currently don't have any ARM based devices.
