[req] Subsonic
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp
appears to be GPL/open source, music streamer.. similar/same as orb but looks much more flexible and open.
assuming its possible, would love to see this available for x86 devices to stream directly from nas

- sphardy1ApprenticeI've up'ed the memory just in case - let's see but i believe we should see something in the log if it's then known issue
Re cover art - looks like that broke very recently, due to the site subsonic scrapes from making changes. Apparently has affected XBMC too - yea mines down since i got to work, made me mad... I had changed search update to every 3 days, so I don't think that was it.
Also updated max memory to 600 but doesn't seem to have helped.
going to disable the download art thing and see if its more stable. - it seemed to crash even with download art disabled, so not sure whats up, I haven't had time to sift through the log
while its running, it works great tho.
might not be the only ones having it crash
http://www.activeobjects.no/subsonic/fo ... php?t=4333 - sphardy1ApprenticeUmmm... It may be memory related.
I up'ed the memory allocation on my setup. My library is not so big - around 5K tracks (25GB) - but SubSonic has not crashed since.
But if this is the issue, then there is still an issue as SubSonic seems to be very memory hungry... - I've disabled art and search scanning, and checked the log file (no apparent errors indicated).
Mine seems to die about 23 hours or so, I have to restart it about the same time each day.
Still, I'll try upping it to 800, thats about as much as I feel comfortable allocating with the stock ram.
I really need to upgrade both my pro and u4 memory. - sphardy1ApprenticeHave to admit I haven't been using SubSonic the last 2 days as I'm travelling - but previously it crashed while I was not using it also.
Should be able to exercise it more tomorrow (once I fix my phone line that the neighbour dug up and broke... Grrr :x ) - sphardy1ApprenticeOk - got the phone/DSL line fixed this morning and have been running SubSonic continually since. Still no crashes with an uptime of 4 days.
Looking a little closer, and it appears the java process is continually running very close to the default 100MB memory allocation; I doubled that to 200M when I restarted the server. So could indicate there was insufficient memory available before despite no entries in the logs as others appear to have reported on the subsonic forum.
Will keep it going and report back if it fails again - sphardy1ApprenticeSubSonic has been solid for 5 straight days now, including continual playing yesterday. No other changes made to my Ultra configuration during this time - woudl appear the issue is resolve from my perspective.
@Tekno - do you know of compatible memory for the Ultra? With this issue seemingly solved and running a VM I feel the need to upgrade also - sphardy1ApprenticeWell - seems I spoke to soon, even if subsonic has been running for days without issue...
Had a power outage a couple of days ago. Since my NAS rebooted I'm once again experiencing random crashes. Nothing about my setup has changed - simply had to reboot the NAS. - I've got my max memory set to 800 and has been stable, even through reboots and search scans.
In fact I just did a search scan last nite after recently rebooting, and its still up this morning.
I think you may need to up the max mem again, I have the istat app and my page in/out went from zero to 35k/85/k over night, indicating to me that a lot of swapping was going on during the scan.
