[Request] Sickbeard + Couchpotato + Python (Sparc)

Hi Everyone,

I don't normally ask for anything on these forums, and have quietly enjoyed the community. With the recent changes to Usenet and losing of some websites. I am now looking at finally configuring SickBeard/Couchpotato on my ReadyNasDuo V1 (Sparc)

However, I find it kind of silly to have to pay for a download of Both modules when the software is free if you were to simply download it for your computer. Especially for the older ReadyNas's

So, my request is if anyone has these modules; I would very much like to 'bum' them off of you. I would very much appreciate it.

You are paying the developer of the add-on a very modest amount for his work in creating the add-on installation/configuration screens and testing them. It also covers his hosting costs.

If you don't want to pay, you should download / install the linux versions of the software yourself. Pirating his work just creates dis-incentives for him to create any more add-ons.
  • I was under the impression you couldn't alter a distro and sell it when a title is protected under GPL.

Your impression is wrong. Python.org for instance says "Python is free to use, even for commercial products..." Sickbeard itself includes other freeware packages, including python, in its installer.

Most GPL licenses allow someone to incorporate the freeware package into a larger package, and many allow commercial use (that is sale) of the larger package.

That is what is happening here. The add-on developer is integrating the freeware into a larger package, which includes the installation, etc. He is testing and distributing this larger package, and under many GPL licenses it is perfectly ok if he charges for that.
  • I recently set up Sickbeard and am loving it. Does the update feature in the installation work? Is it possible to update Sickbeard for the DuoV1?
  • Iceblister, you could have a look at my topic:
