utorrent for X86 2.2.01

new user, so apologies if the documentation is available somewhere and i could not find it...
i followed the directions to try and get utorrent up and running -- setting the directories, etc. however, after uploading a torrent file, one that i know works, i get no activity. however, in transmission, i did the same thing and the file was successfully downloaded (and uploaded). i am familiar with the windows version of utorrent, but not this one so much. as such, i'm at a loss as to what i would need to tweak given that the default transmission add-on settings seem to work perfectly.
thanks to whoever takes the time to help. and again, sorry if this is posted somewhere. i'm eager to follow some sort of "getting started" guide, if it exists. just point me in the right direction.
