Hello MarkCarra,
I have some questions to ask, I have summarized them below:
- Have you tried opening the files on another computer? As well as non-Mac.
- Where did you get or create this files before it got in to the NAS?
- What is the model number and firmware version of your NAS?

Hi JennC
All of the laptops on the network are macs but I have checked that one of the other users is able to open the documents that I am unable to. Interestly one of the files is locked for editing by me, even though I cant access it.
I am able to access the files from the readycloud app on my phone. (My readycloud account is different from my local account)
The documents were created and saved by me on the one laptop.
Model number RN21200, firmware 6.6.0
I deleted and recreated my acount to see if that made any difference but it didn't.
Thanks for your help

by ' other users' you mean other user account on other computer or your account on other computer.
Do you have similar issues with xL/Word files placed on other remote location? Or pdf/txt files?
I had similar problem with files on remote drive (not NAS) and the problem was with a computer. I suggest clearing with ccleaner or other, or even repairing MS Office

I'm not a Mac user, but I have seen Excel do this in Windows on a Windows server -- so it may not be a ReadyNAS issue at all. Typically, the lock goes away after some amount of time, but that may be due to some maintenace done in the background on the server, of which I am unaware, rather than just happening over time.
Have you tried rebooting the NAS?

Hi Sandshark,
Yes I've experienced the file locked for editing on other systems as well. It was only saying locked for this one file, the others that I cant access just say that it cant find them or access them.
Rebooting the NAS doesnt work, thats the first thing that I tried when I came accross this issue!
Thanks

Hi MarkCarra,
Have you tried checking with Apple support? Looking at the answers that you have provided to JennC they might have a better idea on what is happening.
