4.2.20 : Volume expansion will not work beyond 16 TB...
Can someone explain to me what that means or give us more details ...

It is not a good idea to do an apt-get upgrade.
You cannot expand beyond 16TB. You need to do a factory default with the drives in place.
If you attempt offline expansion to overcome the 8TB limit make sure you are not trying to expand past 16TB. Also backup your data first so if things do go wrong you have something to fall back to.
ReadyNAS OS 6 does not have these expansion limitations.
