4Tb shows only 2790 gb allocated space

Replaced one of 3Tb HDD for a new one 4TB. It shows correct 3726 gb size but allocated space as the same 2790 gb after resync.

Latest Radiator , firmware 4.2.8

any ideas ?

  • Thx.  There were relevant changes to the firmware around 4.2.15, so its important to know that you are current.

The volume will not expand if you have only installed a single 4 TB drive - you need have at least two installed for single-redundancy xraid to expand.  So that is your situation.

There are two limits to expansion with 4.2.x firmware, and it is possible that you have reached one of them.

-a volume will not expand over 16 TiB.  Note this is the volume size, not the raw disk capacity, and that the units are TiB, not TB.  6x3TB single redundancy gives a 15 TB volume (which is ~13.6 TiB).

-a volume cannot grow more than 8 TiB from its starting point.  The starting point is the size from the last factory reset (or initial install if you've never done a factory reset).

You aren't at the first limit, but it is possible you are reaching the second. If so, inserting a second 4 TB drive also won't expand.  Do you recall your initial disk configuration?

What other disks are in the NAS?

Do you recall the disks installed at the last factory reset (or initial install)?

      Hello kamerzan,

      Welcome to the community!

What's the RAID level? How many disks and the size of each? What's the model number of the NAS

      Regards,
