Accessing root for ReadyNAS 3312

Model: ReadyNAS 3312

Firmware: 6.10.10

I am trying to login to my ReadyNAS 3312 as root to grant my admin account the ability to cd to some of my shares (necessary for an rsync operation I am doing). I've read where the root password matches the admin password, but my admin password does not work for the root account SSH login.

Is there any way to actually login as root (or to set the root password)? I'm considering traveling to my data center and doing the push-button password reset on the unit to see if I can get admin and root to align (as I've read in other articles), but I'd really like to avoid doing that if possible. 

As an alternative, I could use sudo, but I haven't been able to locate the path where sudo is located on the filer (if at all).
