Adding new users

Dear communitySupport,

I have two questions on adding or sharing with users:

I have a default user account on my readynas which has permissions to readyCloud, Remote and ReadyDrop.
I am able to access this account and file therein without any problem.

1) Adding user on ready nas device:
I have added a new user in addition to the default user on the netgear device.
I added files to this user's home account using the browser.
But I am unable to open this location <ipaddress>/newuser
All that works for me <ipaddress>/defaultuser

2) Sharing or setting permissions:
Like the way it is shown in the above below, the "invite user" is missing.

How to invite new users for sharing?

Thanks a lot for your support.

Best Regards.

    Hello,

    Could you please clarify your setup again? I am not sure if I understand correctly.
    Your default user is not the admin? Does this default user have access to all shares including the new user’s shares? If not, have you removed all current network connections using net use * /delete (assuming you are on Windows), before trying to connect with "newuser"? What error message did you receive trying to open \\NAS-IP-Address\newuser ? Please try connecting to \\NAS-IP-Address and then enter user credentials of "newuser"

    The "invite user" function is only available when you log-in to readycloud.netgear.com with your default ReadyCLOUD user account.

    Bye,
    Eskender

    If there are credentials for the NAS saved in the windows credential manager, windows will try them first. If not, then Windows tries your windows logon/password by default - and prompts for a password only if that fails.

    So trying "net use" with "/user:username" is a good idea. It ensures that you are using the username you are trying to test.
  • Thanks for the suggestions.

    @Eskender
    To get to the admin page, i have always been using the "myusername" that i have setup. Not the admin.
    After seeing your message, I tried to login using the admin and the default password and it did work.
    But the options available when i login as "admin" are same as the options that are available when i login with "myusername"
    I do have see an option to add more cloud users in either case.

    @StephenB
    Thanks for the tip to use the "net use".
    I exit'ed the Ready cloud application. Then i tried running net use and it connected without any issues.
    So currently I am able to access the data from the "home" folder of the second user too.
    So job done!

    Nevertheless, I would be interested to know if I can add more cloud users? Though it is not really a necessity for me to do so.
