If you have working disks, you can migrate them to a new (compatible) unit. For instance, another Pro - but not an RNxxx.
When migrating (or in general when re-inserting) you need to power the NAS down first. If it is up and running, it will also do a drive test, then wipe it, and rebuild/resync.
