cp: writing '/USB_HDD_1/backup/Pictures2/iPhoto Library/Backup/Library6.iPhoto.bak': Input/output error
cp: cannot create directory '/USB_HDD_1/backup/Pictures2/iPhoto Library/Backup/.AppleDouble': Read-only file system

Could be a problem with the USB drive or the filesystem on it.
The standard is if a ext volume has error, it get mounted as Read Only. This is to enable you to do an "fscheck" on the volume to repair any errors in the filesystem.
In any case, if you have another USB drive to back up to, this shouldn't happen.
Where are they stored so I can copy them to you manually?
You could try: Status :: Logs :: Download All Logs
This saves all the log files in a ZIP file. There will be a bakcup_001.log inside. There also could be some userfull info in dmesg.log
