Backup Speed
I tend to swap hard drives on a regular basis and typically I copy the data to a hard drive in a PC and then copy it to the NAS once the new drive is installed. With my one PC I get a fairly steady 110MB/s transfer rate for the 6 hours. With a Ultra 6 Plus or Pro 6 I might get 114MB/s rock solid. The older ARMs 60-80MB/s.
The other day I had two Pro 2s up and running and instead of copying to a PC and then to the Pro 2 I said what the heck I'll simply do a backup to the new Pro 2 instead. Well once the backup started I saw a transfer rate of around 30-40MB/s which makes no sense to me. :) Why would it be slower? I get 100+ from the NAS and 100+ to the NAS when I use a PC in between. This is with numerous NAS units.
