Backup to Readynas from Windows over internet without ssh
Hi,
I want to know if it's possible to schedule a backup job from my readynas 102 to a windows server outside my local network using windows timestamp or Windows/NAS remote?
When I try I have a folder connection error, maybe I have to open some port.
It's works using Windows nfs remote but this protocol doesn't allow incremental backups.
I don't whant to use ftp or ssh but if it's the only solution I will use it.
Thanks
Usually the SMB protocol is not used over the open internet, and you might find that your ISP actually blocks the port (so even if you open it, it still won't work). I don't believe the NAS can use SMB encryption - which for me would be a show stopper.
Current releases of ReadyNAS don't support incremental FTP.
Rsync over ssh is much better. If you are in control of both locations, you could alternatively deploy VPN routers, which would effectively join the two LANs into one. That would allow you to use SMB securely.

- nass06AspirantAlright, I will use qtdsync with rsync ssh its more easier to implement.
Thanks
