Backup two Duo v2 over net
Hi folks
I have two ReadyNAS Duo v2, behind two different routers, accessable forwarded ports and dyndns.
Now i'd like to backup the data of each NAS to the other. How can i do this safe?
thought of rsync via ssh, but readynasxtras.com -->sync-over-ssh-enabler-x86 will probably not work, since it is an ARM device :(
Vault can manage multiple NAS safe but does not support direct backup between them afaik.
have you any suggestions for me?
Your help is really appreciated!

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI am not completely sure what you mean by "safe" - are you thinking "secure" or something else?
Replicate should work.
You could also install VPN routers, and then use normal rsync. Though that assumes you are willing to join the two networks.
If you are willing to use an intermediate PC, you could mount the local NAS volume as a network drive, and use a variety of other methods. - chirpaLuminaryReplicate should be a free install on your v2, you could use that to do NAS to NAS backups over the web.

I agree Replicate is the one to try first.chirpa wrote: Replicate should be a free install on your v2, you could use that to do NAS to NAS backups over the web. - Ulumulu1510AspirantThank you very much for your answers.
The ReadyNAS Replicate Version i found on readynas.com is for x86 and the Duo v2 runs on ARM...
Will this work, or do you know sources of an ARM-Version? - chirpaLuminaryYou have to install it via Genie in the Dashboard GUI.
- SandsharkSenseiI am looking at doing something similar, except Pro to NVX. Biggest issue I see is that both units will be on dynamic IP addresses. Have No-IP domain for one of them, though, and could for the other if really required.
I don't think Replicate is what I want, unless I misunderstand what it can do. As I read it, it's backup software, not true duplication. While you can re-create the source from the backup, the backup can't be moved in to replace the source. If my local Pro dies, I want to drive over and get the NVX and, with nothing more than a rename and IP address reservation change. make the NVX look like the Pro once it's back on the local network.
I've got a backup running locally, but I'd like to have the backup remote. I've read of people having issues using names instead of IP addresses in FrontView backup, so therein lies my problem with dynamic IP addresses. In fact, I'm not even sure I can use a domain name as the remote host for an RSync backup and if I do whether the remote has to be running WebDAV. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNames used locally can be an issue but if you assign a domain to an I.P. specifying that domain name as the host should work
WebDAV and Rsync are two very different things.
If using Rsync you may wish to use Rsync over SSH: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12263/~/setting-up-rsync-over-ssh
