You can RMA the seagate, since it is still covered by seagate's warranty. They will give you a recertified drive, which you could use somewhere else (or as an emergency spare).
The WD10EFRX will work in the v1 (though given the price difference, you might go with the WD20EFRX). The v1 won't use the extra space unless you upgrade all the drives, however it work fine (ignoring the extra 500-1500 GB). These drives are intended for NAS, and have 3 year warranties.
