Cannot backup from PC to NAS

Like you, I have a ReadyNAS Duo 2 but I regularly back up my PC to my Duo 2 without any difficulty although I have chosen to do so manually.
However, rather than go through all the rigmarole you are putting yourself through I simply use "Acronis True Image Home" backup software, I would suggest that you download a trial version and give it a try (you can also download various manuals to familiarise yourself).

Plus there are plenty of demonstrations, hints and tips on YouTube.
