Hi StephenB
I think that it is a very good idea to have a thread devoted to back-ups, from it's simplest incarnation to the most complicated.
However, I personally believe that taking the simple route on my PC and NAS Duo 2 to achieve the task I want to complete is the best way to go, in other words I don't believe in complications just for its own sake. And above all, if I identify a new (home) requirement I look for the necessary software/application to meet that need.
I have a self assembled my PC to the followings specs:-
Intel i3 540 @ 3.07GHz CPU
2 x 640GB WD HD
US Robotic V.92 Dial-Up Modem (used for faxing)
4GB Ram
Gigabyte Motherboard GA-H55M-UD2H
WinXP Pro SP3 O/S
Plus
Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2 (primarily used for data storage)
I have other peripheral equipment, to compliment my PC, but from the above you get the gist that I am not a "games" player or use my machines for trivial purposes.
