Can't Change Permissions with Windows Explorer

For some reason, some of the folders on my ReadyNAS Ultra 6 got permissioned with the default admin account as the owner. I want to be able to add my ReadyNAS account as the owner with full permissions but when I try to do this using Windows Explorer, it always tells me that it can't find the account on the ReadyNAS. What is the trick to getting this done?

Normally you reset permissions using frontview. Look in the share listing, and select "cifs" then the advanced options tab (upper right)

Note the checkbox "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems."

set this, click apply on the bottom right. The checkbox will clear and after a bit you will get a pop-up telling you that the action is completed.
  • This worked great...thanks for the detail on how to use it...I have never found it intuitive.
