cant go faster than 12 MB/s
i copy alot of data over my network to my ready nas ultra 4 plus i cant get any faster than 12 MB /s (100 Mbit/s) >>> basically using 10% of gigabit LAN. is this normal should i be getting faste...

I had the exact same problem, and it was the patch cable (in my case, just a 20cm patch cable). It was driving me crazy trying to work out why I was only getting 100Mb/s through my router, until I remembered I had recently swapped the cable. Swapped it for a different cable, and everything was again humming at max speed (in my case, limited by the wireless connection from my MacBook Air).

The 716 will do ~600 MB/s on a 10 gig link, so it easily maxes out gigabit.
Or wait an go with the ReadyNAS 200 series that Netgear have announced, it is supposed to be capable of up to 200MB/s which should be enough to max out Gigabit. Though the question then becomes, what are you doing that requires maxing out Gigabit?
