Can't See ReadyNAS in Network
I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus [X-RAID2], RAIDiator 4.2.24. Ethernet 1 is Online, Ethernet 2 is Offline. All devices are in the same Workgroup. The UPnP discovery services are enabled. If I generate a network map from the network and sharing center, it shows the device. It also lists it as a storage device.
I thought if I would go into file explorer on Windows 7 or 8, I should be able to see the device under "Network"; however, I don't see it there.
Any thoughts as to what I don't have turned on or blocked so that I can see the device under Network in the file explorer? If I map a drive and manually type in the path, the drive maps properly. The only thing that seems not to work is the ability to see the device like a computer on the network in both Windows 7 and 8.

- BuelliganAspirantNope. Hardware has stayed exactly the same for the past year. Saying that I have also tried other switches incase anything has failed (I own an IT recycling co. so HW is not hard to come by) same result. The weird thing is I can see the NAS on a laptop running Win.8.1. I would suspect the PC at this stage but the NAS is also not visible to the 2 DLNA TVs that used to be able to see the NAS.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWith DLNA the discovery requires upnp. I don't think the switch will enter into it; more likely your router (or possibly your access point if the TVs are using wireless).
- BuelliganAspirantNow you've got me thinking. My Virgin BB went down for 3 days around the time I noticed the problem. Will have to double check it tonight as they may have done a SW update and cocked it up (again).
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOne possibility is to double-route (put a second router behind the one Virgin installed). It is a bit harder to manage port forwarding (you need to add forwarding rules to both routers), but it does insulate you from the provider. You'd need separate IP address ranges (for instance, 192.168.0.x for one, and 192.168.1.x for the other).
