I am having an issue with my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 and WDTV Live, all with latest Firmware etc etc: After pretty much 30mins (i have timed it) the WDTV will stop seeing the ReadyNAS and I will have to go to setup and refind the DNLA media server running on the ReadyNAS. I have tested this using a simple windows share on my Laptop and the WDTV live has no problems streaming and doesn't drop out, so it must be a setting on the ReadyNAS . . . . Any Clues? :(
I also run Plex aswell as Netgears DNLA on the NAS and experience exactly the same issue

Knowing that windows sharing works around the problem is useful.gezzyboy wrote: Cheers Steve, I did setup a windows share with the WDTV with no problems or drop outs and I don't have probs sharing from Plex on mobile devices on the network over wifi, so I wonder if it is the Ready DNLA at fault?
I am still puzzled on the server end - are you running plex or ReadyDLNA on the NAS? (or both???).
Also, what router are you using? Does it have any settings related to upnp or wireless broadcast? - gezzyboyAspirantI'm running Plex & ReadyDNLA on the NAS and i'm using the new BT V4 Router, hope that helps

Must have missed that in my cursory scan of the manual StephenB, thanks for picking that up. - gezzyboyAspirantyeah the thought of custom Firmware gives me the jitters, i'm just a consumer on a fault finding mission so that my wife stops asking me why our movie stops playing every 30 mins :-)
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf the BT router has a UPNP setting, then try changing it. If there is a wireless setting related to multicast or broadcast, try turning it on. It's hard to be more precise than that w/o seeing the router manual.
You may also be having an issue with both plex and ReadyDLNA running - maybe try turning ReadyDLNA off, and then rebooting? - gezzyboyAspirantAfternoon Steve! thanks for the advice I have a new BT Home Hub 4. I have turned off the Extended UPnP security, should I turn off UPnp altogether? I did re-nstall the OS last night in the hope it might sort the issue (as it never did this initially) but to no avail. The home hub uses this new smart wireless setting which looks for the best WIFI channel and switches to the strongest signal, but I've turned that off and Fixed the Channel on 10 as the WDTV seemed to like that most. I did try and run the NAS with ReadyDNLA turned off but then I the Plex Media Server dissappeared also!? so I couldn't stream anything. Regarding the HH4 it has 2.4 & 5Ghz bandwidths and have them both enabled (the 5GHz synced to the 2.4) Would this be causing an issue,do I need 5Ghz anyway. There are a whole bunch of variables at work here!
- gezzyboyAspirantPS You mentioned trying Network Shares instead of using the DNLA Server on the NAS. I have set up the Media folder on the NAS with CIFS or NFS, however when I try Network Shares it sees windows shares but when I open that I only see my Laptop and network printer, where is the Media flder on the NAS? Am I missing something?
- vandermerweMasterAre the permissions setup correctly on the share?
Check cifs and nfs and make sure initially that guest access is enabled for cifs and that default access for nfs is read or read write.
Wen you click on network shares do you only see windows shares as an option? - gezzyboyAspirantI found this online and wonder if it might be an issue:
"I did a bit more digging on this since rolling back the firmware on the WDTV Live didn't help, and it seems that this is a case of both Serviio and the WDTV Live not playing nice together.
Apparently the WDTV Live expects the SSDP broadcast more often than Serviio sends it, so in the end the WDTV Live doesn't receive it in time and then decides that Serviio is no longer available.
Is there a way that I can change the frequency that Serviio sends out the broadcast? From my logs it looks like the broadcast is sent every 4 minutes, maybe if I can change it to every minute and see if that fixes this". - gezzyboyAspirantSorry vandermerwe I didn't catch that last post, yes I've done all that but I only see windows shares sofar not SMB or NFS, see above i'm chasing this SSDP issue which might be the root cause of my timeout problems with the 2 devices.
