Copying data across from old to new NAS

Is it ok to simply copy files over the network from one NAS to another?

I have tried backup and restore but due to the incremental parameters it copies old files that have since been deleted, so I want a fresh start after cleaning up the drive.

Anyone see an issue with this other than time?

  • Use rsync as the protocol.  There's an advanced option to delete files on the destination that aren't on the source.  That will fix your issue.
