Thanks Stephen - I had already done that but I think I have found the problem - again on the router!!. This is a new NAS which replaced an old Duo and was set to the same static address. What I had forgotten to do was to set the MAC address in the router's IP address Binding. Strangely almost everything worked, I was able to access the NAS but it seemed to mess up connections from the NAS while allowing internals ones to work. Anyhow now backing up from outside the office.
