CrashPlan specifies 1 GB memory and an x86 processor in their minimum linux client requirements.
There are some companies that support FTP and/or RSYNC to their internet servers. Some of them have terms of service that exclude backup. Some backup providers (actually most) exclude NAS.
I haven't used them, so I have no recommendations one way or another.
