Deleted share, but data is still taking up (almost all the) space
I deleted a folder in a share, and after that the deleted folder showed up as snapshot data, still taking up space and I was unable to free the space. This led me to delete the entire share with the...
I have a RN31400 (4x4TB) and an EDA500 expansion unit (5x4TB). The volume from the EDA500 does not contain useful data, but the volume on the RN31400 does.
Still scrubbing, this may take some time. Only at 0,52% so far :(
I'm a bit reluctant to update the firmware, did this twice so far and both times the nas froze on me during reboot.
But why is it impossible to format or destroy the volume? This is not normal behaviour I believe. The only thing I can do is switch between x-raid and flexraid (have not done so)
Ok update: I've stopped scrubbing. Switched to flexraid which made it possible for me to destroy the volume.
Switched back to x-raid and now it's resyncing, so moving forward:
Logs sent, I've upgraded the firmware twice and now I am using 6.5.0.
But I am not certain what firmware version I was running when I started using the nas. It's been running for 10 months I guess.
At the back of the nas I've found a small sticker saying: FW: 6.2.0
So I assume I started out with that firmware version?
how about doing a defrag, scrub and balancing to see if free space can be reclaimed?
I already did a balance yesterday, and just did a defrag->no effect
Since the volume is completely empty now maybe a format would be the quickest solution? Scrubbing takes a lot of time.
Looks like the deleted data is stuck in the process of being purged.
Certainly as you don't need any data on the volume is formatting it and creating a new volume would be one way forward.
I can't press the format button, and the '' destroy" option is also greyed out for the volume. So I'm stuck again.
I've started a scrub on the volume, maybe it helps?
