Reinstalling the OS won't solve your problem (which is file system corruption on the data volume).

Odd. Try rnutil rn_shutdown
Strange but all the apps are gone after factory default. I only need Transmission but my NAS does not seem to accept any transmission deb packages I throw at it, not the most recent one, not older ones. Any ideas on how to fix this are welcome

Normally they do return after a bit.

I did try downloading that particular Transmission version but it turned out incompatible with my NAS - i got an error message that it could not be installed. Will wait a bit I guess to see if the apps reappear
