Desperately need data on a unit with dead NIC

I have ready many posts that the ReadyNAS Duo v2 has NIC issues. My NIC is dead and i have tried all the troubleshooting from other posts.
I desperately need access to my Data though. My warranty is long expired.

Looking for advice on what to do. Can I just pull the drives and place into a new unit? Can i place the drives in a different ReadyNAS version? Can I hookup an external drive through the USB and somehow get a Backup/sync without ethernet access?

Please help. I have my business files and tax information on this drive and will be in serious trouble if I can't access soon.

Personally I would be cautious here, especially given the limitations of the duo front-panel controls.

It's easy to get into the wrong mode by mistake, which could jeopardize everything.

So I'd grab the data first, and then play with the NAS.

Alternatively (assuming you have a scratch disk), remove the existing drives and label them, and then play with a blank disk.
