Did Netgear send out an erroneous firmware update message?
I got an e-mail from Netgear to update my firmware to RAIDiator 4.2.28, the last one ever for my unit since it is "end of life." The e-mail has a link to the download, and that web page has a list of applicable ReadyNAS units, but mine is NOT on the list. My firmware is 5.3.11 and my ReadyNAS Duo V2 reports that it is up to date. Is someone spoofing Netgear, or have they had some kind of problem with their update tracking?
That email shouldn't have been sent to you (but your Duo v2 is also EOL).
That email was meant for our customers with legacy x86 units.

Please clarify whether the 'erroneous' email applies to my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus or will I now have to shell out further $$$ to buy a new unit.

At this time all our legacy units are EOL.
The email was meant for customers of our legacy x86 units (i.e. those units which run RAIDiator-x86 4.2.x). The Ultra 4 Plus is one of these units. 4.2.28 is the last firmware update for this unit.
You can continue to use your NAS, but we would recommend when your budget permits that you purchase one of our new models which offer higher performance, more functionality and an improved user experience.

I have a ReadyNAS Duo.
Is it fair to presume that I also should not have received the email inviting me to upgrade to 4.2.28?
- crapsharkAspirantI too received the x86-only V4.2.28 update spam, even though I own an NV+ (sparc) and an NV+ v2 (arm). This was particularly irritating since my Profile shows I'm opted out of emails from NetGear. I tried using the unsubscribe link in the spam but when I entered my email address into the resulting page it said "Your email address is not on file, please try again." How do I stop NetGear from targetting me with this pointless and intrusive spam?
