DLNA showing multiple entries
Hi Everyone
Got an odd one, I have a ReadyNAS Ultra+ and recently it has started showing multiple entries of any video content I upload, and I am not talking one or 2, there can be 40+ copies of the same file when looking at the file structure via a DLNA device. But it doesn't do this to everything, and it isn't all the time.
The DLNA devices I have tried are a Samsung C Series TV and Samsung Blu-Ray player, yet when I look at the content from a file explorer, IE Finder or Windows Explorer, there is only one file.
The ReadyNAS is running the latest version and the content is copied up from Lion 10.7, yet Lion only sees one copy of the file, and given there is no change to the file, I am pretty sure this isn't the new backup program of the Mac.
Any ideas?

- dementiacsAspirantThis problem still happens even with the latest release (1.0.25). The only way to correct it is to force a rescan of the library which is fine if you only have a few hundred files but if you have your music, movies, pictures all in there then it can mean 10s of thousands of files which takes many many many hours to rescan so is a real pain.
- darinmelinAspirantI too have the same problem. I have over 1000 movies on my shares. I would see over 3-4000 listed due to this problem. I would see it on my PS3 Movies and the Western Digital HD Live systems. Thanks to others on this list, I fixed it. So, NetGear still has not fixed this issue.
A) Log into the RAIDar software and ReadyNAS device
B) Choose "Setup" button to access the NAS device
C) Go to tab "Shares"
D) Choose the volume/directory which has the multiple files showing
E) On the right side of the screen, my system shows "ReadyDLNA Services" near the bottom right area on the screen. The only options I have are:
1- to tune it ON or Off. (Initially ON, so I turned it OFF then back ON thinking this would reset it.....and it did).
2-choose media types (I leave it on "ALL"
So, my system now only shows 1 copy of each movie. Yeah!!!!
Equipment: Netgear ReadyNAS NV+v2
Firmware: RAIDar 5.3.5
RAIDar Version: 4.3.4
Thanks,
Darin - 2120nickAspirantHi All
I'm on a Ready Nas 104, 6.1.6 firmware and watching videos via DLNA on my Samsung Smart T.V. I found darinmelins post worked for me so thanks for that. Using web admin, in sharing I clicked on the folder, file type was on 'all' so I switched to 'video' files only and half the movies I could see on the T.V. disappeared, then I changed it back and a few more appeared but not all of them, then I turned sharing off and on and all the files appeared with no duplicates. I hope I won't have to do this too often but the latest firmware update alone did not fix this.
Dear Netgear, I love my server but this was a little frustrating. Bug fix please. - davidtgAspirantJust bumping this post as I'm seeing the same issue with my new 104 (6.1.8 ). Multiple entries show of some videos in dnla. On my older NV+ this never happened though overall the 104's dnla is better. On the NV+ when ever I added new content it seemed to take over an hour before I could access it normally via a smart TV (samsung) - the TV would try to show the folders/file list and then timeout. With the 104 I've not had this issue yet - newly added content doesn't seem to faze things.
Fixing the multiple entries or having a re-scan option would seem better than having to toggle dnla on the share but that does seem to work.
