duo issues

I upgrade to 4.1.8-T9 from 4.1.8-T5 because my Lion iMac has again lost the plot with Time Machine
Turns out the options:tm has gone missing from /var/lib/timemachine/.AppleVolumes
so I upgrade and reboot
Then I notice that disk 2 is not well,

Sat Aug 6 11:37:48 WEST 2011 A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime.
Sat Aug 6 11:36:56 WEST 2011 System is up.
Sat Aug 6 11:35:55 WEST 2011 Your ReadyNAS device has been updated with a new firmware image. (RAIDiator 4.1.8-T9)
It was OK before
I take out the failing disk
I re-partition it on my mac to 1 exfat patition & pop it back in hoping it will recover -wrong

Before we try to fix this we must do a backup.........
but a backup over smb to my local firewire 800 Lacie is failing, it's stuck at 24,000 items for 2 hours
on the ReadyNas Duo top is reporting
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

  • Now I have been backing up my remaining drive onto a Lacie 1TB d2 Quadra directly connected via USB Sat Aug 6 17:57:16, it's now 19:53 Tuesday:
This is what my NAS is saying

    persistence:~# df
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/md0 2031808 613296 1418512 31% /
    tmpfs 16 0 16 0% /USB
    /dev/c/c 1935602352 783983056 1151619296 41% /c
    /dev/sda1 969063976 80929460 888134516 9% /USB/USB_HDD_2

It is taking far too lang -- comment on the T9 upgrade?
