Only X-Raid mode has capability to expand.
And you cannot change modes "on the fly", factory reset is needed for that and it will destroy your data.
So you have to backup your data first and do factory reset afterwards then you will be able to select operating mode from RAIDar.
Also factory reset will align your new 2TB disks properly to get most performance out of them.
There is a very useful article, why sometimes "factory default" is the best way for doing HDD changes on Sparc based units.
